The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Macedonia to the UN, OSCE and other international organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Kire Ilioski led the Macedonian delegation to the UN General Assembly’s Special Session on Drugs which is being held on 19-21 April in New York.



During the special session participants discussed different drug-related aspects, use of controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes, but also threats and reality in preventing and handling the world drug problem.

In his address, Ambassador Ilioski underlined Macedonia’s proactive role in preventing and curbing all types of illegal drug trafficking. He noted that our efforts in this context have resulted in numerous confiscations and cutoffs of cross-border channels for illegal drug trafficking. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for joint approach and strengthening the international cooperation in handling this global phenomenon in order to enable sustainable development in every region of the world.
