North Macedonia in the World

On 23 May 2016, under the organization of students of Macedonian language and culture at the Institute of Slavonic Philology at the Jagiellonian University and under the honorary auspices of the Macedonian Embassy in Warsaw, the cultural manifestation “Macedonian cauldron, discover the tastes of culture” was held in Krakow. The event is a result of activities undertaken by the Embassy in this past period aimed towards presenting the culture of the Republic of Macedonia across different regions in Poland and is also a continuation of the ongoing activity in the field of cultural diplomacy carried out by the Embassy titled: “Days of Macedonian Culture”.

The event was opened by the Charge d’Affairs in the Embassy, Gorica Atanasova-Gjorevska, while Magdalena Duras, PhD, Director of the Slavonic Institute at the Jagiellonian University also delivered a welcoming speech.

Charge d’Affairs Atanasova-Gjorevska emphasised the special importance of Macedonian culture being presented in the city of Krakow, the Polish culture capital and the location of the oldest department for studying the Macedonian language outside the RM which exists for over 50 years. The event was also marked as a specific occasion because it was held on the eve of the holiday celebrating the Slavonic enlighteners Ss. Cyril and Methodius and their epochal and civilizing work.

As part of the visit to Krakow, the Institute of Slavonic Philology at the Jagiellonian University was also visited in order to deliver a large part of Macedonian language editions in person which were secured by the Embassy through the Institute for Macedonian Language “Krste Misirkov”, Skopje and the Institute for Macedonian literature with the mediation of the Ministry of Culture and Education of RM.
