The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, Dragana Kiprijanovska took part in the OSCE Counter-terrorism conference “Preventing Terrorism and Countering Violent Extremism and radicalization that Lead to Terrorism”, which was held in the period between 31 May and 1 June 2016 in Berlin, Germany.

Deputy FM Kiprijanovska as one of the key speakers of the third session delivered a speech titled “The role of promoting the rule of law and human rights in preventing and countering violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism”. In her address, Deputy FM noted alink between the lack of respect for human rights and the increase in violent extremism and radicalism.

In this context the need for countries to use a wide spectrum of legislative, administration and political measures was emphasised, as well as the need to use strategies and policies with solid basis and in accordance with international lawsthat include the aspect of human rights. Furthermore, she underlined the significance of diversity among our societies, the mutuality in implementing laws and human rights and the fight against terrorism, as well as the need for limitations to human rights in the fight against terrorism to be clearly determined by law, to be justified, proportional and non-discriminatory.

Deputy FM Kiprijanovska also participated in the adjoining manifestations held during the Conference.
