North Macedonia in the World

The Independence Day of the Republic of Macedonia was also marked in Astana, Kazakhstan. A project was realized in Astana as part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macedonia’s independence, and the framework of that project included a concert by Macedonian Band Synthesis, an official reception, lecture by the director of the Directorate for bilateral relations with non-European countries with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, Nenad Kolev at the KAZGUU University, opening a Macedonian corner at the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as wine tasting event of Macedonian wines.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Macedonia’s independence, the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Astana in cooperation with the KAZ-MAC Association, organized this project from 1 to 8 September which was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia under the title “Days of Macedonian Culture in Kazakhstan”.

As part of the project the following events were organized in the cities of Almaty and Astana: concerts of the renowned Macedonian ethno band Synthesis with the State Symphony Orchestra of Kazakhstan and the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the City of Astana. An official reception was held on 6 September with the attendance of the diplomatic corps, representatives of state institutions, and representatives of the business community as well as Macedonian nations who live and work in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, Director Nenad Kolev gave his lecture at the KAZGUU University in Astana. As part of the working visit, director Nenad Kolev held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Roman Vasilenko and with Ermukambet Konuspaev, Deputy Director for Economic Diplomacy at the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan.

In addition, a Macedonian corner was opened at the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana where 135 volumes of Macedonian literature in several languages were donated as a gift from the National and University Library “Sv. Kliment Ohridski” from Skopje. And finally, a wine tasting event of Macedonian wines took place and was attended by the largest wine-distribution companies, as well as representatives of restaurants and hotels from Almaty and Astana.
