The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Dimitrov, met today with the newly appointed ambassador of the United States of America, Kate Marie Byrnes, who presented the copies of the credentials as the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of North Macedonia.

Wishing Ambassador Byrnes a warm welcome and success in her new post, Minister Dimitrov voiced the expectation that the exceptionally positive trend of relations between the two friendly countries will continue to develop successfully throughout her term. “You come at a time of opportunities. We have done plenty towards achieving our key strategic goals, although there is still work ahead. Our progress will enable us to positively influence the European and Euro-Atlantic path of the region” – Minister Dimitrov said. The Minister thanked for the continued and strong support of the US for the realization of our country’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and voiced his certainty that this will continue with the same intensity in the future.

Ambassador Byrnes expressed satisfaction with the possibility of working and personally contributing to the strengthening of relations between the two countries. In that context she stressed: “Remarkable progress has been made in North Macedonia. It is important to use this momentum to open new opportunities and perspectives for the country”. She reiterated the support of the US government for us to continue with our reform agenda.

Interlocutors assessed that the bilateral relations, based on strategic partnership and continuous political dialogue, are close and friendly. It was underlined that in the upcoming period both sides will dedicate their efforts to further deepen and comprehensively intensify the cooperation on the basis of shared common goals, interests and values.
