At the meeting, Minister Dimitrov informed his Slovenian counterpart in detail on the prospects and perspectives of North Macedonia’s EU-integration processes in light of receiving a positive decision by the Council of the EU this October. In this context, FM Dimitrov noted: “The consistent support of Slovenia and the cooperation in this regard is a symbol of genuine friendship and a shared European vision. The Slovenian story of European success is an example of the whole enlargement process. Slovenia was a pioneer in this context and an inspiration for us to aim higher in order to achieve our European ideals. I am grateful and we especially appreciate your continued support and friendship.”

Opinions were also exchanged on the current political developments in the country, the importance of rule of law as a guarantee for the security of the democratic path, especially for countries like North Macedonia and Slovenia. In this sense, ministers Dimitrov and Cerar agreed that our perspective is the European narrative of small countries. Rule of law and respect for the legal order are our safeguards in the process of accelerated integration. They also agreed to continue with the support and the close and friendly communication in all areas of mutual cooperation.
