The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrej Zernovski, paid a working visit today to the German Federal State of Bavaria. The visit was carried out at the invitation of the chairperson of the Committee on European Affairs of the Bavarian Parliament.

 

As part of the visit, Deputy FM Zernovski briefed on the results achieved in the reform activities of North Macedonia’s European agenda, the internal political developments and good-neighborly relations. Several separate meetings were also held with members of the Bavarian Parliament, where the importance of reaching a decision on a date to start accession negotiations with the European Union this October was stressed.

"North Macedonia’s European perspective is the engine that drives positive change. The decision in October is important for us, for you and for the whole region. The date to start negotiations will be a joint success, both Macedonian and European”, Zernovski said at the meetings.

This Government is focused on reforms, on making the country stable and secure, a NATO and EU member, economically strong, where the youth will recognize their chance and be citizens with a dignified standard of living, Zernovski stressed at the meetings.

During his working visit, Deputy FM Zernovski also met with Bavaria's Minister of Economy Hubert Aiwanger, the Minister for Environmental Affairs Thorsten Glauber and the Minister of Education Michael Piazolo. A large portion of talks was dedicated to enhancing the bilateral and economic cooperation with Bavaria.


In this context, talks also tackled the Joint Commission of North Macedonia - Bavaria, as an excellent opportunity to deepen the economic cooperation, as well as to exploit the great investment potential of this developed and prosperous German Federal State.
