The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrej Zernovski, met today with Patrizia Di Giovanni, the newly appointed UNICEV representative to the Republic of North Macedonia. On this occasion, Ms. Di Giovanni presented Deputy FM Zernovski with the copies of her credentials.

Welcoming Di Giovanni and wishing her a successful mission, Zernovski stressed that the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia highly appreciates the cooperation with the UNICEF Office in Skopje. He briefed his interlocutor with the implementation of the Government's priorities as well as the implementation of the national reforms concerning child protection, education and the healthcare system.  He voiced expectation that the UNICEF Office in the country under the leadership of the new representative, Ms. Di Giovanni, will continue to support the activities of the Government aimed at realizing its priorities regarding the improvement of the condition of children's rights in North Macedonia.

Di Giovanni welcomed the success achieved over the past few years in terms of children’s rights in RNM, especially regarding deinstitutionalization. UNICEF’s readiness to support further reforms aimed at overcoming identified problems with respect to the protection and promotion of children's rights in RNM was also reaffirmed.
