Mutual satisfaction was voiced with the current development of bilateral relations where potential for advancement can be seen in various areas of mutual interest, especially in terms of intensifying and taking advantage of the opportunities for economic cooperation.

State Secretary Popov voiced regret and disappointment over the failure to adopt the well-deserved positive decision to start accession talks between North Macedonia and the European Union at the last Council of the EU. Furthermore, he emphasised that the political stakeholders in the country are unanimous in their assessment that there is no alternative to full-fledged EU membership and that the country will continue to implement key reforms in favour of our European integration which remains in the interest of all the citizens of North Macedonia, but is also crucial to the stability and prosperity of both the region and Europe.

Ambassador Thimonier noted that France supports the European perspective of North Macedonia and the steadfast commitment of the Government and the country to continue with the reform process for whose implementation we can continue to count on their support in the future.
