On 8 September 2016 the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Berlin organized a reception on the occasion of the state holiday – 8 September – at the Kempinski hotel.The official reception was attended by over 200 guests, members of the German Bundestag, representatives of the German President and Chancellor’s cabinets, Ambassadors and colleagues from the diplomatic corps, businessmen, and representatives of the Macedonian community, the Macedonian Orthodox and Islamic community.

On 8 September 2016, the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Brussels in cooperation with the Mission of the Republic of Macedonia to the EU and the Mission of the Republic of Macedonia to the NATO organized a reception on the occasion of the 25 anniversary of Macedonia’s independence.


На 8 септември 2016 година, македонската амбасада во Париз ја прослави 25 годишнината од независноста на Република Македонија. Во оваа пригода, Вршителот на работите и Личен претставник на Претседателот на РМ за Франкофонија, Габриел Атанасов, во излагање пред гостите од француските институции, дипломатскиот кор, претставници на УНЕСКО и Меѓународната организација на Франкофонијата, како и претставници од дијаспората, го истакна значењето на 8 септември-денот кога во 1991 година, македонскиот народ го избра патот на независноста.

On 7 September 2016, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary since Macedonia’s Declaration of Independence, the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Sarajevo organized a reception for the representatives of institutions and organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the diplomatic corps in Sarajevo and members of the Macedonian community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On 7 September 2016, an official celebration was held in Sofia on the occasion of Macedonia’s Independence Day – 8 September.

Ambassador Marjan Gjorchev delivered his address at the event where he referred to the achievements of our country, particularly in relation to European and Euro-Atlantic integration processes, its benefits as a multi-cultural society with special emphasis on the bilateral cooperation with Bulgaria and the positive basis for advancing this cooperation in the future.

On 5 July 2016, by exchanging letters at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, H.E. Gabriel Atanasov, Chargé d’Affaires and the General Secretary of UNESCO, Irina Bokova signed the agreement between the Republic of Macedonia and UNESCO through which the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology became a category 2 Institute under the auspices of UNESCO. The event was also attended by the Director of the Institute, professor Mihail Garevski.

The first resident Ambassador to Brazil and Latin America, Ivica Bocevki, presented his letters of credence to Michel Temer, acting President of FR Brazil.


On 7 June 2016, as part of the economic diplomacy and activities for promoting the economic cooperation between Macedonia and France, Charge d’Affairs, Mr. Gabriel Atanasov held a working meeting in Enghien-Les Bainswith PhillippeSueur, president of CEEVO – The Economic Expansion Committee of Val-d’Oise as well as the Vice-Chairman of the Council of Val-d’Oise department and the Mayor of Enghien-Les-Bains.

The Republic of Macedonia, through the extraordinary performances of its chamber orchestra and folk group Bitola, presented Macedonian music and language at events organized by the Municipalities of Thessaloniki and Kozani at the beginning of June.
