Macedonia in the World

The Macedonian Mentoring Network in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Macedonian Embassy in Warsaw held the first Macedonian-Polish Business Forum of women entrepreneurs from 28 June to 1 July 2017 in Warsaw, Poland.

On 30 June, a Balkan Music Night was held as part of the 4th Mediterranean cultural festival of Kastoria where traditional Macedonian and Greek music was performed.


The inaugural first charter flight with Polish tourists from Katowice to Ohrid was realized on 22 June as part of the first comprehensive tourism offer for Macedonia by the Polish tour-operator REGO-Bis. The event was carried out at the Katowice Airport with the attendance of the Charge d’Affaires at the Macedonian Embassy Gorica Atanasova Gjorevska at the invitation of the tour-operator.

On 20 June 2017 an event was held at the Vienna International Centre where Ambassadors and other high representatives of the UN and OSCE promoted the International Gender Champions – Vienna initiative. The event was organised by the permanent missions of Costa Rica, the US and Slovenia.

Republic of Macedonia again this year participated on the International Book Fair in Thessaloniki with its own stand and separate poetic readings. Organized by the Consulate General, from 11-14 May, hundreds of book titles of contemporary prose and poetry and drama scripts, journalistic views and other texts were presented.

On 11th of May, the Macedonian Embassy in Paris held Macedonian evening organized by the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations INALCO in Paris.


The chamber choir “Melodium” under the conductor’s baton of Marina Korunovska performed at the World Choir Festival on Musicals on 22-23 April 2017 in Thessaloniki organized by the Consulate General. The Festival held for the seventh year in a row under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture is a unique cultural event, accepted by choristers from across the world. Since its conception, the festival is dedicated towards promoting peace, friendship, fraternity, cooperation and solidarity among nations.

On 8 April 2017, the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Warsaw organized a reception in honor of the famous Macedonian pianist Simon Trpcevski. At the reception, Charge d’Affairs Gorica Atanasova Gjorevska introduced the world-renowned Macedonian pianist before guests and spoke of his achievements, performances and his contribution to promoting Macedonian culture in general.

The feature film “Lazarus” by Svetozar Ristovski and the short film “Unripe Cherries” by Nebojsa Jovanovic had their premiere on 6 April 2017 before the Thessaloniki public and received positive reactions.

The Republic of Macedonia was successfully presented at the 20th jubilee Mostar Fair as part of which the Fair of Wine and Agricultural Products of countries 16+1 was organized. Macedonian quality bottled wine, lamb, traditional sheep cheese, domestic ajvar, lutenica, malidzano were part of the Macedonian products tasted at the national promotional stand in Mostar, the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the Mostar Fair held from 4 to 8 April, 2017.
