The 14th meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Council between the Republic of Macedonia and the European Union (SA Council) took place on 13 July 2018. The meeting was chaired by High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the Commission, Federica Mogherini, while Commissioner Johannes Hahn represented the European Commission. The delegation of the Republic of Macedonia was led by Mr. Nikola Dimitrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Mr.Bujar Osmani also participated.

On the second working day of the Summit, at the invitation of NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg and US Secretary of State, Pompeo, Minister Dimitrov participated in the meeting of the US-led Global Coalition against Daesh. The meeting, among other things, discussed national activities undertaken for tackling threats of terrorism and violent extremism, and emphasised the firm commitment of the Republic of Macedonia as the 30th member state of NATO to actively continue its contribution to the support of the international community and the Global Coalition in combating these global threats.

On 12 July 2018, the Principal Joint Macedonian-Albanian Commission for the maintenance, reconstruction and demarcation of the border held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was chaired by the head of the Macedonian delegation to this commission, Viktor Dimovski, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, dear friends, I’m not really a morning person so please bear with me. My original intention was to talk about Macedonia, the Region – this is quite an ambitious topic for the next decade. I think we live in uncertain times where I think one continuity is the unpredictability. So it is not really easy to say where we are going to be in one year, but this in a way is the context at least how we, in Macedonia, see our region, Europe and the World.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, together with a high-level delegation of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, led by the President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, is participating in the NATO Summit, which is held at the Alliance headquarters in Brussels on 11-12 July 2018.
