Pursuant to Article 10 of the Final Agreement for the Settlement of the Differences as Described in the United Nations Security Council Resolutions 817 (1993) and 845 (1993), the Termination of the Interim Accord of 1995, and the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between the Parties, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia and of the Hellenic Republic exchanged today Notes Verbales to upgrade the Liaison Office in Athens to an Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Office for Consular, Economic, and Commercial Affairs in Thessaloniki to a Consulate-General. Under the Notes Verbales, the Liaison Office in Skopje will simultaneously be upgraded to an Embassy of the Hellenic Republic, and the Office for Consular, Economic, and Commercial Affairs in Bitola to a Consulate-General.

The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bujar Osmani along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Dimitrov met with Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi as well as the chairman of the Committee on Relations with the Western Balkans at the Italian Senate, Luciano D’Alfonso as part of their working visit to the Italian Republic.

 

Today State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Viktor Dimovski, met the rapporteurs from the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe, Lise Christoffersen and Valeriu Ghiletchi who are on a two-day working visit to the Republic of North Macedonia.

 

On May 29th – 30th, 2019 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the civil servants took participation in the two-day workshop “Simulation of International Workshop” with French as working language. The project titled “French Language – Language of International Relations” was co-organized by the French Institute in Skopje and the Directorate for Diplomatic Academy within the MFA.

At the invitation of the British scientific academy “Royal Society” of London and the German National Academy of Sciences – Leopoldina, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrej Zernovski, was the key note speaker at the “5th Joint Science Conference – Western Balkan Process” held today and tomorrow in London.

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Dimitrov participated today in Bratislava in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group and Western Balkan countries.

FM Nikola Dimitrov met today with Ivo Vajgl, member of the European Parliament and Special Rapporteur of the Parliament on the Republic of North Macedonia, paying a working visit to Skopje.

 

At the invitation of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, Miroslav Lajcak, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Dimitrov will take part tomorrow (28 May 2019) in the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Visegrad Group and the Western Balkan countries.

 

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Miloslav Stašek paid a visit to the Republic of North Macedonia on 22 May 2019 during which he met with his host, the State Secretary of the MFA, Viktor Dimovski.
