The Directorate for NATO and Political and Security Issues prepares annual work plans and reports; plans, organises, coordinates and follows the activities and tasks of the Republic of North Macedonia within its NATO membership, the political relations of the Republic of North Macedonia with NATO and beyond with respect to political and security cooperation, participates in formulating and implementing the adopted foreign-policy positions of the Republic of North Macedonia at NATO; conveys positions, follows, analyses and informs about activities within NATO; follows and participates in developing strategic policies of NATO, following and promoting NATO public policies, operation planning, cooperation on crisis management, political and security cooperation with other international organisations and partner countries of the Alliance, coordinates and cooperates with relevant institutions and bodies of the country; provides guidelines and instructions to the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO and monitors their work; cooperates with the accredited missions and international organisations in the Republic of North Macedonia; manages and organises the work of the sectors and units in its composition; prepares and implements the staff training programme prior to their assignment to missions; performs other duties within its scope of activities.
8.1 Sector for Following NATO Policies, Operation Planning and Monitoring and Crisis Management
The Sector for Following NATO Policies, Operation Planning and Monitoring and Crisis Management prepares annual work plans and reports; carries out and coordinates activities and tasks stemming from the NATO membership of the Republic of North Macedonia and monitors the implementation of political, security and defence reforms in the country; undertakes activities envisaged under the Planning and Review Process (PARP), carries out and coordinates activities and tasks related to the foreign-policy aspects of participation in peace support missions and operations, and security cooperation within the Euro-Atlantic area; monitors, analyses and informs about developments and relations within NATO; proposes positions on topical security issues and the contribution of the Republic of North Macedonia to international efforts to address modern security challenges; cooperates with and coordinates the activities of the relevant institutions and bodies of the country; provides guidelines and instructions to the Permanent Delegation to NATO and other missions of the Republic of North Macedonia and monitors their work; cooperates with the accredited missions of NATO member states to the Republic of North Macedonia; organises and evaluates the work of the units in its composition; performs other duties within its scope.

8.2 Sector for Political and Security Cooperation, Regional Relations, Partnership and Strategic Communications
The Sector for Political and Security Cooperation, Regional Relations, Partnership and Strategic Communications prepares annual work plans and reports; prepares and coordinates strategic communications documents for the Directorate and the Ministry; provides expert opinion and proposals on deepening and improving the cooperation of the Republic of North Macedonia with the countries of the region and beyond on issues of importance for regional and Euro-Atlantic security; proposes measures and activities for improving the relations and cooperation of the Republic of North Macedonia at the bilateral and multilateral levels with the countries of the region and beyond on political security issues; proposes measures and activities for improving the relations and cooperation of the Republic of North Macedonia at the bilateral and multilateral levels with the countries of the region and beyond on political security issues; follows the relations and cooperation of MKD at the bilateral and multilateral levels with the countries of the region and beyond on political security issues; follows the relations and cooperation of MKD within collective security systems; follows, participates in and coordinates the activities in the process of cooperation with the Ministry of Defence; follows NATO’s relations and policies with other international organisations (EU, UN, OSCE, AU); follows NATO’s relations and policies on partnership development, the 30+N format; the Mediterranean Dialogue, the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, the Indo-Pacific Four, the Southern Neighbourhood partners, the Central Asian partners, the African partners, the Latin American partners and other partners and institutions; coordinates the activities within NATO's Ð…EEGROUP; regional political and security in the context of NATO (A5), as well as other formats of cooperation with various international organisations and initiatives; follows and participates in the activities within the security component of international and regional organisations and initiatives; follows and participates in the activities in the EAPS SEDM process of cooperation among defence ministers; follows and participates in the activities of the Multinational Peace Force Southeastern Europe (SEEBRIG), and follows the activities related to the issue of small arms and light weapons (SALW); proposes activities, informs about and prepares reports on security developments to international organisations, and proposes specific activities that the Republic of North Macedonia needs to undertake within regional and international political security cooperation; cooperates with and coordinates the activities of the relevant institutions and bodies in the country; provides guidelines and instructions to the Permanent Delegation to NATO and other missions of the Republic of North Macedonia and follows their work; cooperates with the accredited missions of NATO member states and other countries in the Republic of North Macedonia; organises and evaluates the work of the units in its composition; performs other duties within its scope of activities.
