The Burial-Transit Permit for a Macedonian citizen who has died abroad is issued by the diplomatic-consular representation of the Republic of North Macedonia under whose jurisdiction the deceased is to be transferred from.
Documents needed to receive a burial-transit permit:
- Request for a burial-transit permit;
- Proof of citizenship of the Republic of North Macedonia (travel document of ID card or certificate of citizenship of RNM);
- Extract from the Register of Deaths issued in the country where the death occurred;
- Medical certification of death stating the cause of death (the cause of death cannot be a contagious disease)
- Approval (confirmation) for the transport of the deceased by the country where the death occurred;
- Information on the means of transportation of the deceased (if the transport is carried out by land, burial-transit permit forms are needed for all the countries the body of the deceased will transit through);
- Name and surname of the individual accompanying the deceased and a copy of their travel document;
- If the deceased is not a Macedonian citizen, the burial-transit permit is issued upon receiving the approval of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of North Macedonia

The fee pursuant to LAF – Tariff No. 131 (request) is 8 euros, under Tariff. No.136 (service) is 12 euros or 20 euros in total
