The Directorate for Bilateral Relations with Countries of Southeast Europe and Regional Initiatives adopts annual work plans and reports; plans, organises, coordinates, and follows the bilateral cooperation and relations of the Republic of North Macedonia with countries in Southeast Europe; participates in the formulation and implementation of the established foreign policy positions of the Republic of North Macedonia; monitors, analyses, and reports on internal developments in these countries and on the relations with them; ensures coordination and cooperates with relevant institutions and state administration bodies in the country; issues guidelines and instructions to diplomatic missions and consular posts in these countries and follows their work; cooperates with accredited diplomatic missions and consular posts of these countries in the Republic of North Macedonia; manages, coordinates, and organises the work of Sectors and Units, which are part of this Directorate; develops and implements the programme for preparation of employees prior to their deployment to diplomatic missions and consular posts abroad; evaluates the work of organisational units and diplomatic missions and consular posts from the perspective of its competences; and performs other tasks within its scope of competences.
3.1 Sector for Bilateral Relations with Countries in the Immediate Neighbourhood
The Sector for Bilateral Relations with Countries in Immediate Neighbourhood prepares annual work plans and reports; performs and coordinates activities and tasks related to the bilateral relations and cooperation of the Republic of North Macedonia with the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Serbia, Kosovo, the Republic of Bulgaria, and the Hellenic Republic; follows, analyses, and reports on the development of bilateral relations and proposes measures and positions for their advancement; monitors, analyses, and reports on internal developments and the foreign policy of the respective countries; prepares and participates in political consultations; ensures coordination and cooperates with relevant institutions and state administration bodies in the country; prepares guidelines and instructions for diplomatic missions and consular posts in these countries and follows their work; cooperates with accredited diplomatic missions and consular posts of these countries in the Republic of North Macedonia; organises and evaluates the work of Units, which are part of this Sector; and performs other tasks within its scope of competences.

3.2 Sector for Bilateral Relations with Countries in the Wider Neighbourhood
The Sector for Bilateral Relations with Countries in the Wider Neighbourhood prepares annual work plans and reports; performs and coordinates activities and tasks related to the bilateral relations and cooperation of the Republic of North Macedonia with Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Türkiye, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, and Cyprus, and coordinates activities and tasks arising from the Prespa Forum for Dialogue; the Sector monitors, analyses, and reports on the development of bilateral relations and proposes measures and positions for their further advancement; monitors, analyses, and reports on internal developments and the foreign policy of the respective countries; prepares and participates in political consultations; ensures coordination and cooperation with relevant institutions and state administration bodies in the country; prepares guidelines and instructions for diplomatic missions and consular posts in these countries and follows their work; cooperates with accredited diplomatic missions and consular posts of these countries in the Republic of North Macedonia; organises and evaluates the work of Units, which are part of this Sector; and performs other tasks within its scope of competences.

3.2 Sector for Regional Initiatives and the Prespa Forum for Dialogue
The Sector for Regional Initiatives and the Prespa Forum for Dialogue prepares annual work plans and reports; performs and coordinates activities and tasks related to the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), the Central European Initiative (CEI), the Adriatic–Ionian Initiative (AII), the Berlin Process, the Mini-Schengen Initiative, as well as related to other regional initiatives in which the Republic of North Macedonia actively participates as part of established regional bodies and organisations; the Sector follows, analyses, and reports on activities to be undertaken by the Ministry under regional initiatives and the aforementioned processes; participates in, organises, and proposes activities for cooperation processes in the form of regional initiatives; prepares and participates in political consultations under regional initiatives; ensures coordination and cooperates with relevant national institutions and state administration bodies in the country involved in the above-mentioned processes; prepares guidelines and instructions for diplomatic missions and consular posts, where necessary, for the purpose of undertaking appropriate actions under regional initiatives and aforementioned processes; organises and evaluates the work of Units, which are part of this Sector; and performs other tasks within its scope of competences.
